Wolf Den Volunteers at Food Bank: March 2013
On March 7, 2013, eight Wolf Scouts and parents volunteered at the Regional Food Bank of NE New
York. "The Food Bank collects large donations of food from the food industry and distributes it to charitable
agencies serving hungry and disadvantaged people in 23 counties. From Plattsburgh to Newburgh, in urban, rural, and suburban communities, the Food Bank provides over 25 million pounds of food a year to 1,000
agencies."
The Wolves sorted a pallet of boxes containing cleaning supplies donated by local businesses. Most people do not know that the food bank excepts other donations ranging from toys to cleaning supplies which allows families in need to dedicate more funds to food purchases. The teamwork displayed by the Scouts (and parents) was impressive! After their hard work the group received a tour of the facility.
This summer the Pack plans to volunteer at the food bank's Patroon farm.
